Born in Abergavenny and growing up first in New Inn and then in Cwmbran, Gareth qualified as Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Cardiff University Dental School in 2009. After Vocational Training in Rhiwbina, Cardiff, he attained his Certificate of General Professional Training comprising working first as a Senior House Officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, then as a Community Dental Officer in the Merthyr, Rhondda and Ogwr Valleys. Following this Gareth began work in General Dental Practice Bridgend and Barry, later moving to Barry full time. During these years Gareth attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation in Dentistry from Cardiff University in 2015 and completed the Foundation in Implant Dentistry Certificate from Staumann and the International Team for Implantology in 2016. On 1st November 2017 Gareth completed purchase of the Brynhyfryd Dental Practice following a short period working here as a locum.
Whilst working in Merthyr Tydfil Gareth met his now wife Hannah, a Learning Disability Nurse, and having married in December 2015 at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr they live in Cardiff with their Patterdale Terrier Jake. They enjoy long country walks together with Jake and using up their annual leave seeing the world. Gareth also does all the cooking and gardening at home with fruit crumbles and cakes made from their home-grown rhubarb, blackberries, raspberries and plums a speciality.
Professionally Gareth is Dental Phobia Certified and his intersests are conscious sedation, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening, short-duration aesthetic orthodontics for adults and facial rejuvenation treatments. He is also an international conference speaker most recently co-chairing the first day of the Rome Dental Conference and Expo as well as delivering a keynote speech in December 2018.
One of our A-team of super nurses and a friendly face on the front desk. Qualifying as a dental Nurse in 2002, Claire loves her job due to the wonderful patients and the great team. She always has a friendly ear and a hand to hold. In January 2019 she welcomed her baby son Teddy into the world and is currently enjoying her maternity leave with her new addition.
Qualifying as a dental nurse in 1997 and having worked here since then, Nicola is a working mum of 2 beautiful daughters. Her family is her life: "enjoy what makes you happy" being her mantra. Nicola enjoys both the nursing and reception aspects and working as part of our great team as she loves the feeling of making a difference and seeing happy, smiling patients return year after year. Amanda "Mandy" Griffiths
Mandy (GDC registration: 130007) comes to us to cover for Claire's maternity period and brings with her wealth of dental nursing experience as well as experience in the practice management and business sides of dentistry along with a can-do attitude and a sunny disposition. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two grown-up sons who share a mixture of sporting prowess and military service.
