Born in Abergavenny and growing up first in New Inn and then in Cwmbran, Gareth qualified as Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Cardiff University Dental School in 2009. After Vocational Training in Rhiwbina, Cardiff, he attained his Certificate of General Professional Training comprising working first as a Senior House Officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, then as a Community Dental Officer in the Merthyr, Rhondda and Ogwr Valleys. Following this Gareth began work in General Dental Practice Bridgend and Barry, later moving to Barry full time. During these years Gareth attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation in Dentistry from Cardiff University in 2015 and completed the Foundation in Implant Dentistry Certificate from Straumann and the International Team for Implantology in 2016. On 1st November 2017 Gareth completed purchase of the Brynhyfryd Dental Practice following a short period working here as a locum.
Whilst working in Merthyr Tydfil Gareth met his now wife Hannah, a Learning Disability Nurse, and having married in December 2015 at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr, they live in Swansea with their rescue dog, Jake; a Patterdale terrier. They enjoy long walks together with Jake and using up their annual leave seeing the world.
Professionally Gareth is Dental Phobia Certified and a member of the Denplan Future Leaders steering group which involves advising Government policy through the production of white papers and networking at Westminster with cross-party MPs and other leaders in UK dentistry. His interests are conscious sedation, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening, short-duration aesthetic orthodontics for adults and facial rejuvenation treatments. Gareth is co-chair of the Independent Dental Association Wales for 2021-2023 having previously served as secretary in the organisation. He is also an international conference speaker which has included co-chairing the first day of the Rome Dental Conference and Expo in December 2018 and heading to Osaka, Japan in September 2019 to speak at the Global Experts Meet on Holistic, Alternative and Traditional of Dentistry and Medicine.
Our Practice Manager Stacey started as a dental nurse 22 years ago. She then went onto develop her knowledge through futher training to become theatre lead at Parkway clinic.
Her professional, loyal and thorough attitude to work is exceptional and we are so grateful to have her on our team.
Stacey loves spending time with her family and going on holidays abroad or in her campervan, and also socialising with friends.
Gemma started her career in dentistry in 2016 as a trainee dental nurse. Since then she has qualified as a dental hygienist in 2021 at Portsmouth university and is currently studying dental therapy at the university of Essex, Gemma's future is so bright with all the new skills she is learning, she's professional, kind and outgoing, she has a lovely little boy, and husband to be, she loves her dogs and still manages to find the time to run miles each week.
Abby joined us as a trainee dental nurse having previously worked in the care sector. Having qualified as a dental nurse in 2022 we are fortunate to benefit from her enthusiasm to learn and her bubbly, caring nature. She is Now head nurse at the Practice after proving what a dedicated and professional Nurse she has become.
In her spare time Abby loves spending time with family and friends, down the beach with her french bulldog and going on trips and holidays in the summer.
Chloe has been Dental nursing for 7 years and qualified for 5 years. She's a very thorough nurse, who's really good with her patients.
Chloe loves to socialise with friends, going travelling and to music concerts in her spare time.
Niamh has been nursing for just over 2 years and is working towards getting her level 3 diploma in dental nursing.
Niamh loves to see patients happy and enjoys having a chat with them when they come to Brynhyfryd dental, always making patients feel welcomed with her warming and caring nature.
Niamh loves to take her dog out walking, spending time with family and friends and also loves going abroad on holiday in her spare time.
Naomi has just started her career as a trainee dental nurse in 2023 and has taken to it like a duck to water. Coming from working in the care sector she already has patient skills, She is kind and caring and is now passionate about learning all aspects of dentistry. Naomi enjoys socialising and going on holiday with family and friends.
Demi-Leigh has been Dental nursing for nearly 2 years now and is soon to be qualified with us at Brynhyfryd Dental.
Demi is very caring, always smiling and is passionate about making sure her patients are happy and not afraid of coming to the dentist.
Out of work Demi loves to socialise with friends, spend time with her family and go on sunny holidays.
Jamie-Lee started with us in December 2023 as a brand new trainee dental nurse. Jamie-Lee is very hardworking and enjoys getting to know all our lovely patients at Brynhyfryd Dental. Her favourite procedure to assist our dentists with is fillings as they can be different every time.
Outside of work she is a busy mum to her two daughters and enjoys spending her spare time with family and friends.
Liddia has been Dental nursing for over 5 years and qualified for 3 years. Liddia enjoys nursing for implant and surgical dentistry. She is now working towards her Nursing degree as well as working with us, when she has the time. Liddia Is proffesional and enthusiastic and an asset to our team, She loves going for food, walking her dog and going away on holidays.
